CHILE FACTS

Chile makes up half the west coast of South America, extending from the southern tip of Peru to the southern tip of Argentina. Its length is over 4,300 kilometers, making it the longest country in the world.

Spanish is the official language.

Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion.

The Andes mountains are on its eastern edge and the Pacific Ocean lies on its western edge.

A 9.5 earthquake in 1960 destroyed the southern cites of Valdivia, Osorno, and Llanquihue.

Easter Island, with its ominous stone statues, is owned by Chile.
